Owney Geoghegan was a real brewer, barkeeper and brawler; he is not in fact known to have been directly involved with the Whyo gang. Directly next door to his drinking establishment was a famous den of iniquity, The Windsor Palace, also pictured here. The image to the right is from Herbert Asbury's Gangs of New York.
The other real bar in Metropolis is the Morgue, which is said to have been a Whyo hangout. Billy’s is fictional.
